STEP Conference ProjectStudents will use methods in calculus and statistics to analyze some aspect of daily human behavior to report at the Spring 2017 STEP conference. An example of such a study is the exhaustive online report by Ben Jacobson: Is it brunch time?

Day 1 - DiagnosticsPlease complete the following Google Form.
If you have not taken Pre-Calculus, please complete the Online Mathematical Analysis Readiness Test (MR). The MR test assumes two years of algebra and a year of geometry in preparation for a precalculus course and has significant geometry content. If you have already taken Pre-Calculus, please compete the Online Calculus Readiness Test (CR). Both of these 40-question multiple-choice tests should be taken without a calculator within approximately one hour. Upon completion of each test, fill in your name, print to pdf, and email your results to Ms. Lin. |
We use the following set of limit laws, or properties of limits, to (begin to) evaluate limits analytically. Some of these laws are intuitively obvious, and some limit laws are consequences of other limit laws.
Theorem. If f is a polynomial or rational function and c is in the domain of the function f, then
Try the following examples:

Suppose that b is a constant and n is a positive integer. Suppose also that the limit of f(x) and g(x) as x approaches c both exist. Then the following properties hold for limits:

Review all Logarithm Rules.
Practice using them fluidly. For example: |
