Either write something worth reading
or do something worth writing.

Students will evaluate submitted college essays before and after revision for strengths and weaknesses, and consider how well they succeed at meeting a rubric devised by actual college admissions officers to measure organization and focus, originality and character, writing voice, and proper grammar, usage, and mechanics. Students will develop their own checklist for writing college essays after judging sample essays. Students will choose one essay prompt from a college application that they will submit and write their own college essay. After receiving rubric-based peer and teacher feedback, students will have the opportunity to rewrite their essays.
